With a heavy heart...

User
Posted 04 Sep 2018 at 12:05

Not sure what to write here or where to start.

so unfortunatly my dad lost his fight on Friday 31st August. His last 3-4 weeks were tough. At the beginning we knew the cancer had been in my dads bones and lymph nodes, at the end it had spread to his spinal cord and liver. Was only a matter of time before the cancer had spread to his other organs.

Was such a heartbreak watching my dad suffer in pain. Towards the end, he was only on morphine and he slipped away peacefully.

I feel like someone’s ripped my heart out my chest the hurt I’m feeling just now.

To all the gents out there fighting this horrible disease, keep strong and keep fighting.

Love to you all xxx

Dear Letitia please accept my sincere condolences for your sad loss.

Your dear dad is no longer suffering.

I am currently listening to Rachmanilov's Piano Concerto used in the film "Brief Encounter". a very moving piece of music that appropriately reflects how all our lives consist of "Brief Encounters" with each other and life itself.

very difficult! I think he actually knew what was going on before I did. Obviously trying to protect me I get that. Can’t imagine it being easy to tell your daughter that you may only have weeks left! It explains why he barely spoke for his last 2 weeks.

My Dad died 11 days ago; metatastic prostate cancer spread to his liver. I'm heartbroken and struggling to cope with the loss of my wonderful Dad. People say it will get easier, at the moment I can't image in that.

User

Losing a parent is devastating however old you or they are and you will still be in that first stage of struggling to believe it and a whole host of emotions. Let yourself grieve in your own time and in your own way. It does get easier over time and everyone is different.  Personally I took a long time to accept my Dad was gone even though he had been unwell for 12 years but now I remember all the good times we had when I was young. My husband's Dad died only a few weeks after being diagnosed with prostate cancer and that was a huge shock.

Losing those you love is never easy and things sneak up on you. I remember hearing someone say "come on Dad" and it hit me like a brick but it does get better - early days for you. Take care.
