prostatectomy and back op

Hi, have now got round to taking a look at the forum and seeing if I can fit in somewhere? Recent diagnosis and awaiting prostatectomy within the next 2 months. Amazed at the support and information available.

I feel very lucky, although my knowledge is limited I have a Gleason score of 3 plus 4 =7. Locally advanced. Met consultant and nurse specialist who after providing lots of information, agreed the best route was to remove the prostate and see if anything else needed to be done.It was explained that the biopsy did not show everything as it could not reach some areas (deep), sorry if thats vague. So it was preferable to carry out the prostatectomy.

After initial shock, things have settled down, and I am just anxious for the two months to pass quickly and the procedure to be done.

Coincidentally I am receiving treatment from the orthopaedic surgeons at Walton and I have a lumbar microdisectomy planned for later this month. I have multiple disc failure and numbness in right leg. The two surgeons have looked at the information and have suggested the back op will be a good idea prior to prostatectomy to help in the longer term.

Great site

Just to say welcome rackets55.

I hope all goes well with both ops and that you make a speedy recovery.

Best Wishes

Sandra
