Rising PSA 4 years after prostatectomy

Hi

Approx a month ago I started getting a strange feeling between my belly button and my private parts,

I have had 2 blood tests in the last month and the first one came back at .14 and the on this week was .18

My surgeon didn't seem worried because it had not reached the magic .2 , he said see you in 6 months !!

If my PSA has gone up so much in a month what will it be in 6 months ??

should I be worried

I would be going for Rt as soon as possible have you a specialist nurse to call and tell of your concern

Hi, You've had several years of erratic ups and downs.  Although it's gone from 0.03 to 0.18 now.   It should be worth more regular psa tests now it's reached that level.  If the hospital won't do it go to your GP.  Your consultant could advise what is planned if it does reach 0.2.  That's my opinion based on what I'd be thinking as a patient.  Regards Peter

Seems a bit pointless going for more regular PSA tests: even if the PSA reaches 0.2 before the 6 months is up it doesn't sound like they are prepared to do anything with you until early 2019.

Your uro knows that your PSA is almost at the threshold and still wants to wait 6 months - the only option I can see would be to take his advice or ask the GP to refer you to an oncologist for a second opinion. That might mean going to a different hospital though?

Lyn, I was thinking it might go down as it has done before which could give more confidence to wait and a better feeling.   The next psa test will be March 2019 when the psa could be anywhere.  I'd be wanting to know what the treatment options are, it certainly hardens your focus when you know the probabilities.

MD you need to see an Oncologist if only for a second opinion that you are on the correct treatment path.
