Dad just started radiotherapy- 20 fractions

Hi, I'm just wanting a bit of advice if possible. My dad has localised prostate cancer 3+4 Gleeson 7. He started his 4 weeks of radiotherapy on Friday. He usually but goes out on a Thursday and sometimes a Sunday with my mum and friends for a few pints of bitter. The nurse at hospital said he must NOT drink any alcohol whilst on treatment, but another nurse in the dept said as long as he was sensible "a little bit of what you fancy does you good" There are also  things online which say a few drinks in moderation are fine. Has anyone here had a few drinks whilst on radiotherapy? Is this ok? Thursdays and Sundays are what my dad looks forward to but he's anxiois about having a drink incase it causes him all sorts of problems/side effects.. Any advice would be great. Thank you.

Don't drink for the duration of the RT if that's what the RT nurse said!

There will be plenty of time for beer when the RT is finished.

The beer causes gas which can distend the bowel - possibly leading to cancelled apoointments if they can't get your dad lined up properly, delays while he waits to pass wind or worse, unwanted bowel side effects if the gas pushes the bowel into the zapping range.

I know some here have had a small drink during treatment but John was also told absolutely no alcohol during RT. Perhaps it depends a bit on the hospital and a bit on the individual's internal layout?

I was never told not to drink, but I never did. Best not to I guess, if he really wants a pint, maybe a swift one on a Friday night would be OK, more time until the next session

The month passes quicker than you expect, and he might also feel dog tired and want to sleep instead.
