Is Prostate cancer infectious?

I have recently been diagnosed with a low level of cancer. I have no symptoms.

My wife and I have an active sex life, however my wife is concerned as to whether cancer can be transferred in semen.

I do not believe this to be the case.

Can anyone advise.

No cancer is infectious.

Hi Joe,

I don’t think PCa, as we quaintly call it here, is contagious, but human papilloma virus, (HPV, the cause and precursor to cervical, penis cancers and genital warts certainly is!

Perhaps your lady is confusing the two?

Best of luck.

Cheers, John.

Yes, viruses which cause cancer can of course be contagious, but cancer itself (any form of cancer) is not. The only way that cancer can spread from one person to another is via tissue transplantation.
