I had a prostectomy on the the 2nd of October.  I was readmitted a week after with possible infection and bladder spasm.  But at the moment I am suffering Pain in the bowel area.  It’s like an constant throbbing ache in my rectum area it’s becomming unbearable .   I have had bowel pain/cramps since my surgery but like an idiot I didn’t mention anything as I didn’t want to be a nuisance and also wasn’t sure if this is quite normal after this type of procedher

Are you constipated? Are you avoiding fluids because of incontinence / dribbling? Is there any blood in your poo?

Assuming neither of the above apply, it could just be because all the nerve endings in your pelvic region have been slashed, burnt and battered - they might be a bit jangly and the brain sometimes gets confused about where transferred pain is actually coming from. But you should get it checked out - if you were allocated a nurse specialist, give him / her a call or you could call the nurses at the PCUK charity on the number above.

Hi Neil,

thanks for the reply.

i am on the same medication and like you not feeling any different.

if you have any tips on how your dry please share them, at the moment it’s none stop for me.

It got to the stage where I didn’t want to drink . Which I’m sure didn’t help But when I do I get a cramping feeling in my lower belly.

best wishes to you, let me know how you get on
