A rise on this test

Brian

I don't think a rise was unexpected but as you say it has slowed down. Hopefully a long way to go before any more treatment.

Thanks Chris

Good to hear that your PSA is staying low Brian.

Hi so had my latest 4 month consultation today. PSA up to 0.44 from 0.37 in July. Still a rise but thankfully not massive. I was asked if I was still happy to just monitor which I am. This Oncol said next line of treatment would be HT. I couldn’t be bothered to say I’d discussed with the previous Oncol about possible RT if just a couple of mets were identified

That's not too bad. I know zero would be better or going down, but at least it is only a slow rise.

So difficult Bri. Each man’s psa is his own as you know , but seems you’re nowhere near being pushed into a decision yet , and whatever you have left lurking around is small ? If they could find an incidence with a scan and it could be tackled head on with RT then good news, and maybe better than systemic HT , but if they can’t you can still weigh your odds up with HT ? Not an easy move and not always good to take up early I guess. I’ve always been an advocate of QOL ( as you all know ) and 70% positive attitude , but I truly think it helps take your mind away and mostly increases outcome. But you have to believe it. I eat all the stuff they say not to , barbecued all summer , and still drink way too much but I’m happy - happier now I’m at work again and not always involved in the forum where peoples sad plight was turning into negativity , selfishly making me feel bad all the time. Roll on forwards and the incurable side lives with me but I’m giving it a bl**dy hard time getting the better of me. I’m positive you’ll be fine for years to come , but you need to attack those healthy years !

Can't remember if you have had a PSMA scan? If not why not Bri?

They don’t think a PSMA scan will pick up anything at this point. I know there are isolated cases where it does. But they are going to start scanning when the PSA reaches 1

Latest PSA is now 0.55. A rise of 0.11 since November. NFA for now as they are still adamant nothing is likely to show up on a scan. Next test 4 months time

Just read through the whole post Bri, you’re doing amazing…hopefully you are feeling that too. I’m already dreading my husbands next PSA but really don’t want it to control our lives. Very difficult to switch off from PCa I find!

Although I’m sure no rise would be so much better, it does seem good news that these are just small rises and fingers crossed it will just settle at some point. Wishing you all the very best.

Oh could I just ask Brian….when you had a previous rise you mentioned you were going to experiment with diet ie no red meat/dairy and reduce sugar etc….did you do that? I’m always saying to my husband how I think these things may help so interesting to hear other experiences. Thank you x

Very worrying for you Bri. Especially for you ! But as said above still very small rises and will need to be psa 1 maybe before scanning. Good luck

Thanks Chris

Hi Elaine I’m afraid I did t commit to it. If anything I went a bit in reverse ie my exercise dropped off due to injury and prob ate more sweet stuff than I should. I’m going to make more of an effort going forward though.
Hope you are both as well as can be

Well it sounds like things are still going pretty steady even with eating some of the nicer things. I guess who knows whether it makes a difference? I was thinking maybe it could have been diet that was helping with just small PSA increases for you. Maybe I won’t tell rob off for eating a chocolate biscuit now 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄🤣

Hope you’re recovered from your injury now.

All the very best x
