Anyone used Saw Palmetto?

I had LDR brachytherapy 16th Nov and am on 150mg bicalatumide daily and 20mg tamixifen twice a week as well as tamsulosin every day.  I’m experiencing the expected side effects, especially having to wee 6 or 7 times a night with reduced flow and interruptions. I have stopped caffeine for months now.

Has anyone used Saw Palmetto tablets? it says thay are for benign prostatic hypertrophy BPH only but i wonder if anyone has used them with success?

I have stopped taking PomiT because they contain caffeine.

thanks

Dom

Hello domthumb.

My husband also had LDBrackytherapy and he also took Saw Palmetto for quite a while but he stopped because he said it made no noticeable difference to him.

If you click on my avatar you can follow his story to date. He was signed off into the care of our GP earlier this year.

Saw Palmetto can artificially reduce the PSA level so I would be cautious if you are currently undergoing PSA monitoring as it may mask a raw PSA rise.

At no time during the 6 years I took Saw Palmetto were my PSA readings affected, whereas when I commenced Dutasteride (and stopped SP) my readings were halved within 3 months.

SP is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it! cool

Iā€™m going by medical articles I read when looking up supplements. As always with advice trust but verify ;)
