Pain in the bum!

Hi everybody .

I'm 53 years old and I've been suffering from 'mild' symptoms for a few months, struggling to start peeing, dibbling etc. However, I've got a nagging ache at the bottom of my back going down in to my left bum cheek and my left shoulder hurts when I lift it. I had put if down to too much gym but it's getting worse.  I've just been referred to hospital by my doctor following a DRE where she said my prostate felt hard.

I am now terrified. I'm sure this has all been done before, so I'm really sorry, but any advice would be very welcome.

Thank you, Paul.

You are on the right track, going to see a urologist. You may well have ‘only’ a prostate infection or benign disease called BPH, so don’t jump to conclusions by logging on here!

Welcome anyway. Let us know what urology have to say.

Best of luck. I hope everything pans out OK for you.

Cheers, John.

Your symptoms sound like a urinary tract infection. Try not to worry until you've seen the urologist. There's any number of different things it could be.

I am amongst the most fortunate, gentlemen. Mine is 'Just' BPH and I have medication.  Thanks to everyone for just being here, it was a massive help. Good luck to you all 👍

Hi John.

Thanks for your reply. You know what it's like, two plus two on 'Google doctor' generally adds up to about 500! Some of the things you read make it look like you're down to your last 10 minutes on earth.

I'm so pleased I came across this site, it's a godsend and has loads of excellent advice, as a result of which I do feel a little more reassured.

I'll post on here when I get results.

Many thanks, Paul
