Toilet usage card?

User

Hey there,

I have to take a long journey to work everyday which involves buses, and both the overground and underground trains. Unfortunately, I cannot make the entire journey without needing to go to the toilet. I am also constantly having to reuse my debit card, getting off at various stations and I then have to repay to continue my journey. I have tried explaining my circumstances to the staff and they do not really have any sympathy (they think that I am just it on)  I saw my GP recently and asked him that I had heard of a universally recognised card which you can show to staff on the underground, railways, commercial premises and they will or have to let you use their toilets.

Can anyone shed anymore light on this for me?

Thanks in advance.

You can also get one of the radar toilet keys for disabled toilets.  Although I don't necessarily see myself as disabled, there have been a few times I desperately needed a toilet and the radar key would have been handy.  So, I keep it in the car just in case.

I'm not sure the urgent card would get any of us out of paying for public toilets on the London transport network.

It was reported a few days ago on a local Facebook group that the toilets at Waterloo station are now free. Not checked personally though.

There was such a card in the pack I got at diagnosis, with Urgent written on the front, produced by prostatecanceruk.org so possibly available from somewhere on this website.

I haven't needed it yet, so I've no idea how well accepted it is.

Hey Andy, thanks for coming back to me. I'm on active surveillance and I definitely didn't get given anything relating to the subject in the pack I was given at the time. I also spoke to my specialist nurse and was told that she had not heard of such a card. Hence why I though that I would ask the community. Thanks again!

You can buy a Radar key on eBay.

Cheers, John.

Cheers John, I've just ordered myself one. Living in London, I am little sceptical how many places I will be able to use it, considering public WC's seem to have been closing down over the last few years. Still, its got to be worth the purchase. Thanks again.

Just a quick reminder there is public toilet at GOSPEL OAK station you can always use it at free of charge without leaving the station..

Are you using Oyster/Contactless on the underground? As far as national rail services you can always 'break' your journey at any point and continue without needing to buy a new ticket. And most trains have toilets on them....

I can confirm that the loos at Waterloo are now free, along with most other station toilets. Yesterday the turnstiles and change machine had a piece of paper pasted over them saying 'these toilets are now free of charge' and the gate was open - a nice saving of 30p.
