Annoying persistent illness

User

Hi

When I do any form of proper excercise I often suffer extreme fatigue a few days later. A week and a half ago, I did several days of intermittent jogging and some mild HIIT. Since then I have felt tired every day (some days dead on my feet) and have developed a persistent virus/cold with a sore throat and bad chesty cough. This is the worst bout yet.

I am coming to the conclusion that any form of exertion causes my overloaded immune system to conk out. I am going to ride this out but was wondering if anyone has any advice about this or is it just a case of waiting until my body repairs from the RT?

Cheers

Pete, since I've been on HT I've found myself completely unable to do any high-intensity exercise - it leaves me completely shattered. I strongly suspect it's the HT rather than the RT which is causing your problem.

I'm the same.  I could walk my dog for ten miles on flat ground and be fine.  Go up hills and I struggle.  My oncologist said this was fairly common and would improve once I stopped treatment.  She told me to join a gym and walk the dog to slow down the negative side effects of the HT.

Only thing is that I have recovered my T levels to 50% better than they were before all my flipping treatment.

It is either the RT, all in my head or both, I think.

Yes I had rt/ht as my primary treatment. RT finished Dec 2016 HT finished June 2018 (had 2 yrs of abiraterone, enzalutimide, prednisone via stampede and experienced same tiredness.

I was completely tired/fatigued said to be more to do with HT. Think I am now seeing effects ease just a bit - not coming quick enough obviously but accept reasons. Did do some exercise throughout but very little really now trying to increase gym work etc.

Aches and pains, sleep issues, body hair etc getting a bit better. Still have a slight bowel problem prob due to RT damage, that's actually getting checked out tomorrow via colonoscopy.

Think we all suffer the tiredness, probably unavoidable isn't it.

Hi Pete

it is probably nothing to do with the cancer, there is a really nasty cold virus going around, Tony has just had a week of antibiotics for it, have a word with the pharmacist at the chemist, it was the chemists that told Tony to see the doctor about his.

The RT knocked me for six; it took a few months to get over that - but the effects of HT are similar, you rise to a plateau and no further; energy sapping over three years, though I found things very slowly improved, and rapidly lifted from three months after the last injection.

Pete,

I'm an ABI and steroids man , 6 months in now. I have managed pretty well so far with the tiredness issue apart from a couple of weeks ago when I felt like I was wearing lead boots. Bearing in mind that I am coping with working full time, I am usually not too bad. Still snoozing for an hour after my evening meal then in bed for around 10 pm and up for work at 6 am. Like you though, anything extra, exercise wise leaves me tired. Deffo the HT for me .Stick at it mate, you are doing well.

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Hope you're doing ok.

Quick one; how did you get Abi as a first HT? Private?

Thanks

That's correct . Onco gave me a choice of ABI or chemo, I chose the former because of the chance of less side effects and quality of every day living .

Chris.

Thanks folks

Definitely a nasty bug. Whether all the side effects made it worse are moot at the moment - Iā€™m coughing too much to care. Have to go out and buy more lemsip šŸ¤’šŸ¤§šŸ¤ÆšŸ„µšŸ˜·šŸ©šŸ˜‚

Lemon or blackcurrent?

Blackcurrant with extra lemon but I bottled out from buying the Grouse to add the real medicinal value.

Iā€™m rethinking that Grouse today as I spent all night coughing my lungs into my lap and I sound like Morgan Freeman Iā€™m so hoarse šŸ˜‚

To be honest I never thought I would have been lucjy enought to be bitching about just a chest infection as a piority a year ago. It shows how perspectives change!
