Online Community Maintenance - Wed 3 April 1pm

User

Hi everyone,

We are carrying out essential maintenance work on the Online Community on Wednesday 3 April at 1pm.

What this means is the Online Community will be unavailable during this time. We are hoping the work will only take a few minutes but it is possible it may take up 30 minutes.

You can still visit The Prostate Cancer UK website as the site will be unaffected by the maintenance work. You can also call our Specialist Nurses on 0800 074 8383 if you have a concern or question about prostate cancer.

Apologies for the inconvenience this will cause and thank you for your understanding. We will do all that we can to keep the downtime to a minimum.

Best wishes,
Carol

Carol, there's a major problem following the upgrade. I use the Firefox web browser under Windows 10, and if I click the "Quote" button, I get the "Post your reply" screen, but the area of the page where the message editor should appear is completely blank. Doing the same thing with the "Edge" browser (which I dislike!) works fine.

The Quick Editor (which I'm using to write this) works fine on both browsers.

Can you investigate this anomaly, please?

Thanks,

Chris

Just to add, it's any action involving the full editor. If I try to edit one of my previous posts, or click the "Reply" or "Quote" buttons on any page, the editor is not appearing.

PS: I tried to send you a PM about this, but was unable to do so, because that action uses the editor, too!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for flagging this issue. Can you let me know what version of Firefox you are using please? We have tested it here on 3 different versions of Firefox web browser on desktop without any issues? Are you using a desktop/mobile/tablet to access. Please can I ask you to try in Firefox using a private window to see if you have the same issues.

If it's easier you can email your response to onlinecommunity@prostatecanceruk.org

Cheers,

Carol

Hi Carol,

I'm running Firefox 66.0.2 (64-bit) under the latest patch release of 64-bit Windows 10 running on a Dell laptop computer. I've just tried opening a private window and the editor works fine there, but it just doesn't appear in a normal browser windows.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for letting me know. It sounds like there is a caching issue with the browser window you are using which is causing display issues with the editor.

Can I ask you to clear your cache in your browser and try again please as hopefully this should resolve your problem.

Details on how to clear your cache are here if needed:

Cheers,
Carol

Thanks, Carol. As you see from my quote, that worked 😊.

Thank you very much indeed for the prompt assistance.

Have you had a lot of downtime problems in the last few days?

I was in Bratislava last week and there were repeated error messages every time I tried to view the website?

When are you switching to a decent bulletin board?

Cheers, John.
