Life after HIFU- What does this mean for post op sex and general living

Hi,

I’m frank and am 52 years old.  I’ve just been diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Its at an intermediate stage,  and it’s size is  2mm.

Ive talked to my doctor and gone through my options.  It would appear that I am eligible for HIFU.   Although I am getting a second opinion,  I wanted to hear from someone that has gone through HIFU as their initial form of treatment as I am also wondering (worrying, is probably a better word) about life after having HIFU.

I am concerned about the control is my bladder and the ability to still get an erection.

Of course i am concerned about cancer aftercare,  but one thing at a time

Thanks in advance for your input

Hi Frank,

If you have not already, order or download the ‘Toolkit’ information folder from this website.

If you would like to load details of your condition into your profile, it will help people here to offer you the best advice.

Click on ‘Bollinge’ for example, and you will see my story.

Cheers, John.

Hi Bollinge,

thanks for the advice.   I have updated my profile with the diagnosis.   I haven’t downloaded the tool kit yet but will do so once I get my laptop back.

Thanks, frank
