Pain in perenium

User

Hi I’ve had a radical robotic prostectomy 4 1/2 weeks ago I’m waking arond not to much exercise but I’ve been out in the car driving  last couple of times  etc but I always have discomfort a while after at the base of my penis or in the bit inside between my Scrotum and anus not chronic pain but uncomfortable is this normal at this stage I’ve been urine checked for a uti , I’m drinking lots of fluids and trying not to push myself to hard .. I currently live alone which in itself causes the mind to wander and I’m definitely not googling it as it will have Me diagnosed between mild muscle spasm or the plague πŸ˜‰ any ideas would really help ( hopefully not a silly question to ask ) many thanks

I would say at 4.5 weeks that's normal.

You've had major surgery. It'll take several months for the physical damage to completely heal. Minor discomfort after a month is completely normal.

Best wishes,

Chris

I would see that as normal too.

normal

even after 4 yrs . I  still get occasional 'random' aches and pains.  I assume  differed aches from nerve damage and scaring.  .

Hi

I am 5 weeks post RP and have the same feeling. I am completely dry at the moment but still wear a Tena no 2 pad at night just in case. I only stopped having blood in my urine 10 days ago, just seen the physio and advised to walk 15 minutes am & pm and lie down for 30 minutes after lunch, also told to keep on with my pelvic floor exercises. Sitting is still a pain on certain seats but overall I feel good. I get my histology results on 4 July.

Keep your spirits up and no googling!!

Peter

Hi Peter

seem we are on the same timeline I’ve got psa on the 5th follow up on the 12th fingers crossed

last couple of days pain in the base of my old boy and my uthera seems irritated but now on cranberry tabs and it’s settled down

paracetomol and dhidracodine seem to take the edge off but today the pains back in my perenium not so much Acute pain but tender when I walk

bladder control is getting better I can now get to the loo in the morning and when I get up from the sofa ... still leaks a bit

I’ve niot done to much exercise but I never was that atheistic pre op but I think I’ll take you advice and do more than 5 minute dog walk in the morning and evening as maybe I may benefit from that then rest up after

the discomfort in the perenium is manageable but the pain in the old boy I struggle with

like Lyn has said in the thread it’s nerves and just takes time I suppose and psychological issues may play on it as well as it’s at the front of your mind constantly

Hi James

Glad the pain is under control, I had my histology results yesterday and they are all clear. My Consultant is happy that all cancer cells were contained within the prostate and removed safely, so, that’s good news for me. I have a blood test sometime in August.

keep well

Peter

Hi Peter

psa test done yesterday and meeting my consultant next Friday ... but my GP rang me this morning (he’s a great guy )as I’d had some other bloods done but said that my psa result was undetectable so I assume blood tests every 3 months going forward see what the consultant says next week

my cholesterol is a bit high tho πŸ˜‰

Hi Peter

my cholesterol has been high for a few years but I have an excellent blood pressure good diet  and good resting heart rate I tried tablets a couple of years ago but I felt dreadful but I’ve always been between 5.5 and 7 cholesterol  I’ve been a bit naughty recently with my food but back on the fresh fruit veg etc and no biscuits my only vice πŸ˜€ I assume with a undetectable psa the consultant will just test me again in 3 months ? Not sure what happens next

Hi James

One day at a time my Consultant said to me. You seem to be doing well and age is on your side. I am 72 tomorrow but still feel quite young, I’ve been pretty tired this past week, eating loads, exercising and drinking fluids, today though I feel much better and a different person to last week. So one day at a timeπŸ˜€. My bladder seems to be under control, I only had one accident two weeks ago, I was sitting in the garden doing nothing when I suddenly felt a little surge of wee, not a lot but I definitely didn’t get any signal from my brain to say it’s on its way!! The Consultant said it’s normal and very early days, so again ‘one day at a time’.

Hope you had a good weekend

Peter

Hi James

My pain was addressed by taking 2 soluble paracetamol tablets as required. I do get random pain in other areas of the nether region but thankfully they don’t last for long. I still get up for a wee once during the night but at least I get the feeling to go now. The scars have healed very well also.

Best wishes for result day

Peter

Hi James

Good news about the PSA test, I wonder why the cholesterol is high? I take tablets for mine, but have done for ten years, tests always come back normal with taking the pill!!

Hope all goes well next Friday. I am just enjoying some sunshine and the cricket.

Regards

Peter

Hi I had the meeting with my consultant undetectable and clear margins next meeting in January 20 psa in 3 months I still have the feeling I’m sat on a golf ball and my bladder has been very leaky this week I assume it’s swelling going down slowly and things slowly getting back in place ... to be really honest it’s starting to get me down a bit I feel a little isolated this week it’s like I’ve had good news but the side effects are still with me I’m ok with the leaks getting up spitting down moving etc and I sleep all night and dry but it’s the journey I’m on just seems relentless I love riding my motorcycle but can’t do that and that was my main hobby just feel a little lost at the mo hopefully it will pass

Hi James

Glad to hear your good results, my blood test is next month. It’s funny that you should say about sitting on a golf ball because this last week I have had a similar feeling, but only when sitting on certain chairs or settee. I have been pad less for a week now with only one slight leak. It must be really annoying not to be able to ride your bike, my specialist nurse said that for the RP person cycling and bike riding are a certain NoNo for at least six months after the op.

Take it easy and take care. One day at a time eh!

Regards

Peter
