Grand Depart Classic

Steve is taking part in the Grand Depart Classic today.

He's just called from Belgium to say he expects to be half way of the 190km cycle run.

This is in aid of PC UK. Steve is cycling with one friend, though by the sound of it, they have already lost each other! He will be on BBC Radio Suffolk at 11am this morning. Please listen in if you can.

Steve didn't get on the radio till 11:30 but he was almost half way. Its very hot (around 32C) but the team of 235 riders riding on behalf of prostate cancer, have so far raised half a £million.

Brilliant!  I hadn't heard of that but it's on The PCUK website.

Thanks Peter,

Unfortunately Steve wasn't able to complete it. He managed to cycle 73 miles but then started getting cramp and heatstroke. It was in the high 30s.

He only had his operation at the end of January and so his serious cycle training could only really start a few weeks back. I think the fact that he did 73 miles in unbearable heat is still a massive achievement. :)

Roll on next year!
