Prostate Cancer UK received a request recently from the Wales Cancer Network to promote links to a survey they have rolled out to capture people’s experiences of the cancer pathways in Wales. In November 2018, the Wales Cancer Network welcomed a Welsh Government decision to
implement a Single Cancer Pathway in Wales. Implementation commenced in June 2019.
As part of this process, we would like to ensure that the views of people who have had experience of
cancer services in Wales inform this process.
We especially want to know the impact of waiting times and delays that people may have
experienced at key times within the early phase of their pathway between first referral following a
suspicion of cancer and receiving treatment for cancer.
This includes peoples’ experiences around the timing of their first appointment with a specialist, the
time interval during / between their diagnostic tests, and the time interval between receiving a
diagnosis and starting treatment. We are also interested in peoples’ experiences of what additional support, if any, was or could have been provided to them during this time.
The results of this survey will be collated by the Wales Cancer Network and made available to
Health Board and Cancer Centre partners via the Health Board Lead Cancer Nurse, Lead Cancer
Allied Health Professional (AHP), and Patient Experience / Person-Centred Care Managers.
