Penile injections

Hi all, I had PC over 12 years ago, all clear now although PSA gradually creak up, now at 2.

Sex life, trued everything, only real success was Cialis, daily does now withdrawn, pump, too mechanical, and injections, which mostly work. Real supy problems now, no sign that Caverject us going to be available any time soon.

Anyone else out there in this position?

Cheers

Paul

I would ask for tadalafil (unbranded cialis) again, due to non-availability of alprostadil drugs like Caverject. There may be some other alprostadil drugs available, but they require an ED clinic session to learn how to use them before prescribing.

If I'm correctly understanding what you say, it also seems crazy to move you to alprostadil when PDE5 inhibitors (tadalafil, sildenafil, etc) were working. Alprostadil drugs are normally for people who find PDE5 inhibitors don't work, either due to nerves not working, or no libido.

A daily 2.5 mg of Cialis was helpful, but the one of higher doses were not.

Once they removed the daily dose option the injections ere considered more suitable. Viagra did nothing, just a headache.

Hi Andy, I found that a 20mg Tadalafil didn’t really work yet the daily low dose has left me with excellent spontaneous erections. In fact I’ve tried upping the dose on special date nights and all that happens is I get bad side effects. My Cialis was tried to be withdrawn also but I went literally mental at my GP and he re-prescribed it so I was lucky I guess.

With regards to Alprostadil yes I’ve heard it’s in very short supply. It seems it’s fine to give someone guaranteed ED with surgery , then do nothing to help afterwards. This is seeming the norm now. Can Invicorp25 now be prescribed?? I don’t know. Far superior injection in my experience and a different drug altogether.

Before giving up on the Cialis, put in writing to your GP and the CCG your reasons for wanting it including a) it worked for you and b) the alternatives either don't work or are not available due to supply issues.

Also, it is worth trying levitra which we have found more successful than viagra. Did you always take the viagra on an empty stomach and did you wait enough hours before trying to use it? John would take it mid-afternoon for evening sex or at bedtime for sex the next morning. With levitra the wait is still 2-3 hours before it works.

We are just testing Viridal which does not seem to have any supply issues at the moment. It is the same active ingredient as caverject but I can't say yet that it is as successful.

The 5mg daily tadalafil aren't cheap, but they are much cheaper than four caverject's.

I would go back to your GP and ask for the daily low dose tadalafil again on the basis that:

a) it's cheaper

b) it worked

c) alprostadil is really only for when PDE5 inhibitors don't work

d) alprostadil isn't available at the moment.

I have an unopened twin pack of caverject 10mg that expires next year PM me an address and I will post it.

I was appalled when I took unopened sealed medicines back before and they just binned them.

Generic tadalafil is now able to be prescribed and massively cheaper than branded Cialis. Also it can be purchased online from a reliable supplier eg Dr Fox for not a huge sum.

The risk is they may have been stored badly, or even tampered with.

I will be interested to hear how Viridak works please.

It seems Wiltshire does not allow daily Cialis or genetic equivalent, for any reason which is very mean. I have written to my doctor, bit of a begging letter anyway.

We need a replacement for Caverject, but in the meantime hoping the GP will prescribe at least a week Cialis, which I might try and cut up.

It simply appals me that ED is mostly a given with any form of prostate cancer treatment , yet there is an unwillingness to rectify the issue afterwards. I’ve spoken to men nigh on suicidal due to lack of support and meds and erection !!

I agree, the Patients Promise should make the come up with suitable options. We are being rationed, and now, one of the most effective treatments is being sold off abroad ahead of us according to the media.
