Weight loss despite being on hormone therapy

Hello,

My dad was recently diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer (bone mets in pelvis and right femur). He's been on hormone therapy for three months and his PSA has fallen from 31 to 1.97. His appetite was poor in the beginning, then it improved, but it's poor again and he's lost weight.

He's naturally slim anyway but I assumed he'd gain weight on hormone treatment instead of losing it.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Many thanks in advance.

Rosalie

HT causes muscle loss so this is probably part of the reason he is losing weight. Worry, depression, HT can all affect appetite as well.

Worth asking the chemist about supplementary shakes, etc if it is hard to entice him to eat much.
