Kevin,

sorry you've found yourself here, but you will get excellent support.

You are at the most anxious stage - it's all new to you, wasn't expected, no idea what will happen but you've heard bad stuff and almost certainly imaged even more. We've all been there and we all know how anxious a time it is, and we're feeling for you. You need to work through the next few weeks of diagnostic procedures to find out if there's any issue. You haven't been diagnosed with prostate cancer yet, and we all hope you won't be.

What can you expect next?

It's not clear if you've been referred to follow a prostate cancer diagnostic path or some other diagnostic path. For the prostate cancer one, you would likely have an MRI scan (multi-parametric MRI scan) and maybe a few things like a digital rectal exam, and some flow tests (peeing into a flow rate machine). They will then wait for the scan result, and decide if they need to do a biopsy or not.

You didn't say where the ct scan anomalies are, and it may be that they will be following a different diagnostic path than prostate cancer.

Please feel free to ask absolutely anything here. It's also useful if you can give test results and dates for things like PSA in your profile. This helps people tailor answers more specifically to your circumstances.

Hi Kevin

Totally understand the stress as went through similar on the rollercoaster ride to diagnosis. The NHS has a great fast track system which should speed you through the diagnostics to diagnosis in a few weeks. I suspect the urologist will want to do an mpMRI then If something is seen ie > PiRADS* 3 will move to biopsy. (*PiRADS - grades an MRI scan image in terms of probability or likelihood of suspect lesions)

At this stage it really is a fact finding mission but It sounds like you are in good hands. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to think the worst until you get the results. I had blood in my semen but there can be several causes.

Please keep us posted but whatever the outcome there will be a strong support group here waiting for when you need to call on it and very happy to offer guidance where needed.

I have just been through this process - which was unfortunately prolonged due to the impact of COVID-19.

PSA 11- I am on Finasteride which I am told has the effect of halving the true PSA - I had a MRI on the first Saturday of 'lockdown' with a PI-RAD 5, followed by a Transperineal Biopsy, under sedation on 3 June. Subsequently I have agonised over a variety of scenarios, convincing myself that I had Prostate Cancer & evaluating the possible treatment options. Unfortunately I had to wait over four weeks for the biopsy result, a fair part of that being attributed to 'administrative overload' - after much 'chasing around' I received the formal result of my biopsy this morning 'completely clear with no evidence of prostate cancer but some sign of chronic patchy inflammation'. I looked at all of this for a 'glass half empty' perspective - I must learn that things are not always as dark as they first seem. Take heart, you may well find yourself in a similar position.

Very worried and shocked to be honest and thinking ahead for life insurance unpaid work living costs as well as supporting  my children and partner! I’ve bloods in my seaman and urine but my psa test came back good! Prostrate is a normal size and bloods are fine! We thought it was kidney stones
