Can I ask for a referral?

I am 7 years post-op, 4 years post-salvage RT with a rising PSA and have been with the same oncologist since my diagnosis. I realise that further treatment is on the horizon but I would like to get a 2nd option from a PC specialist about what options I may have before going down the HT route. Am I entitled to request a 2nd opinion on the NHS and, if so, where is the best place to go?

I found a couple of consultants I wanted to see, I then asked my GP for a referral to two consultants. I got a reply from both and saw my first choice in a matter of a few weeks.

My original consultant surgeon often asked if I would like to have a second opinion from one of his colleagues. I think sometimes they see an advantage to another consultant seeing you.
