Prostate issues after Negative Template Biopsy

Hi Guys

I have had a slightly raised PSA over the last few years and reluctantly agreed to a template Biopsy. Since then I have had a raft of Infections which the bad one has been going on for 6 months now more on than off... I am up every 45 minutes pretty much to urinate both day and night and the pain has been unbearable. After 12 weeks on Trimethoprim it was 70% better but then came back, I have been on Doxycycline for 10 weeks with little improvement and have gone onto Cipro about 5 days ago.

Does anyone have any advice, I have cut out caffeine and fizzy drinks and anything spicy, Urology are useless and I know I am lucky that the biopsy came back negative but I am reaching the end of my tether and if Cipro doesnt work (seemed better at weekend) but back to normal today..... I am not sure what to do...

Any advice gratefully received...

Well, you are quite youthful to be here, and you are fortunate enough to have had a template biopsy where no cancer was found.

All I can suggest is you find an eminent urologist, look one up, and ask for a referral there and a second opinion on the NHS.

Best of luck.

Cheers, John.

You want a urologist that specialises in prostatitis, and very few do. Dishing out a random variety of antibiotics is not how you treat it.

One of the urology consultants we have along at The FOPS is a specialist in prostatitis, so you could join us over Zoom on Wed 7th Oct, and ask him about it. I will post details at the weekend.
