Irun - British Empire Medal

User
Posted 10 Oct 2020 at 22:43

How wonderful to see that our own Kevin Webber (Irun) has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to people with cancer.

Kev has run .... not just running, but extreme running - since his diagnosis with advanced cancer in 2014, raising many £000s.

Congratulations Kev xxx

Thank you all so much, it is very humbling as whilst I may have run in some crazy races without my family, my amazing employer NatWest and everyone who has ever sponsored or helped me I would be nothing . The award is for everyone who never gives up really.

Whilst writing, (sorry to hijack the post) LadBible have just released this interview with me filmed a few months ago, there is a bit of poetic licence in it but I hope it inspires the fight in people and gets a few more men to the doctors for a PSA check .

So well deserved. I didn't know much about Kevin but some google searches have some fascinating interviews about his drive and determination in extreme running.

Kevin is the same age as me and an inspiration.

Congratulations Kevin, richly deserved.

You need to set me a new challenge for 2021, not one of your extreme jobbies though.

Brilliant Kevin and congratulations. You inspired me to do 5 and 10K runs on local paths, with much needed 2 day breaks inbetween - so nothing like your achievements.
