Confessions Of A Prostatitis Sufferer

User

Hello everyone,  👋

I'm new here. I just wanted to let the men on here with prostatitis know that I write openly about living with the condition - something which I've had for the past nine years.

There is no money, promotions or products involved. I'm doing this to raise awareness about a very common but rarely spoken of condition.

The aim is to make more men feel comfortable seeking treatment and discussing their symptoms.

You can find me at:

Confessions Of A Prostatitis Sufferer

I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time,

Simon Smith

PS: Here are two articles I wrote for the national UK press on prostatitis:

I Have A Condition That Affects Half Of All Men And It Is More Horrible Than You Can Imagine

Why Many Men Suffer With My Condition In Silence

I do mention this from time to time, but at The FOPS prostate support group, one of our resident urologists specialises in treatment of prostatitis. Very few urologists really know anything much about this condition and there are less than a handful of specialists in the whole country, which is one reason why it can go on for years. 2 or 3 people from here have joined in the past to ask about their prostatitis, and got very detailed advice on how to get it treated after years of failing to do so.

Our next support meeting at The FOPS is this Wednesday evening (4th Nov) on Zoom, when you can come along and put questions to our panel of consultant urologists, who love answering questions, and make the evening educational and entertaining.

See the end of my profile.

It would probably make more sense to post this on the prostatitis section of the forum instead of the welcome page. The moderators may be able to help you to move it.

Hi Andy, thank you for your message.

I've not heard of The FOPS prostate support group so thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have interviewed Dr Julian Shah before and I see he's part of the panel!

You're right, few urologists really get to grips with tackling this condition. The standard approach seems to be the three As of alpha-blockers, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatories. Beyond that sufferers are left to their own devices.

Got the zoom link from the end of your profile, cheers for that. I'll put it on my Facebook page. I'm sure those following my page will really benefit from it.

Thanks again.
