Hi. Just been to oncology and been told there is nothing more can be done for dad. Palliative team will be involved for what's to come.

Not a shock as we knew nothing was working and psa going up and up.   He had vascular dementia and alzheimers. So hasn't got a clue. Bonus.

Been told to expect deterioration over next few months.   Will not be a year.

Not in pain just now and doing ok. Would like to keep him in house as long as possible whilst he has some memories.

I'm a be prepared kind of person. What should I expect. New ground here.

Hi there. At present I’m on palliative route only ( my choice ). Do you have a cancer hospice nearby ? Then your GP can refer you ? They tend to keep you at home as long as possible. I was recently delivered an enormous bag of meds by my hospice for when things get worse. Morphine , anti-anxiety , sleep meds , the lot. To be prepared is a good idea as some poor souls on here have had awful experiences with hospital runs and lack of community nurse etc which has led to all parties being in terrible distress
