I had a Turp operation in March and when they tested what was removed the have found prostrate cancer what is next?


I have a appointment with my urologist soon.

Sorry to hear that.


I think they will want to let the TURP heal, and then they'll probably do an MRI scan of the prostate/abdomen.


Did you have a PSA blood test before the TURP?
If so, you you know the value?
If not, they'll do that, but they probably have to wait 6-8 weeks before it would give a meaningful value after a TURP.


Did they give you a Gleason score of the TURP pieces?
They may want to do a biopsy if the MRI shows anything remaining in the prostate which is suspicious.
They may want to do a nuclear bone scan - that's pretty routine.

I am having a MRI next week followed by further biopsies to stage it further.
