Skin cancer

So I’ve now been put on the two week pathway for possible skin cancer.
I noticed a small wart like growth on my thigh some weeks ago. Looking at guidance I left it for a few weeks to see if any changes.

Long story short the docs took some pics and sent to a dermatologist who said an urgent referral is needed

Think I’m destined for the Big C to take me  in some way. So much for an happy retirement

I had an early cancerous mole on my back dug out about 2007 not long before my PCa diagnosis although there is no connection. It was checked on for I think 3 years before I was discharged. The diagnosis was Lentigo Maligna Melanoma.

Fingers crossed all ok for you. My OH just had one removed from his nose (wart like) and chest (looked like a graze)…they were both BCC’s. Is it possible yours could be the same or have they said different?

Well hopefully that’s the case as they say they’re not dangerous just more of a nuisance. Best of luck to you

Whats the Tibo app

Its a free app for smart phones, lets you take a photo of any skin lesion and have it analysed.  It's not a substitute for a dermatologist but I have found it's pretty good.

The thigh is an unusual place for skin cancer as it doesn't get much sun.

I've had 2 skin grafts on my scalp 13yrs ago for BCC and SCC in situ.  Both not particularly serious unless not treated for several years.

I was urgently referred last year by a nurse from a photo I took. The dermatologist said I should never have been referred as a GP would have known it's a whatsamacallit and would fall off. It did. There are dozens of conditions that all look very similar and are often caused by sunshine.

Here’s hoping it isn’t too serious Bri.

Cheers guys. As always it’s that uncertain stage between referral and seeing the experts that’s so unnerving

Hi Bri, have you had some results yet?

I haven’t been seen yet Lyn as my appt is not until the 7th Dec 😲. I phoned to enquire why it was going to be 3 months and was informed they’d made an urgent referral and not the two week referral. I guess I’ve become part of the ‘covid’ backlog or perhaps they aren’t too concerned. I contacted them again last week and sent in a photo as the lesion was now darker. I’ve been informed the consultant will take a look at the latest photo of it.
