Brachytherapy procedure

User
Posted 05 Jan 2022 at 22:40
So after being given diagnosis on 13th November 2021, I had my brachytherapy this morning in Belfast City Hospital - in at 7.30am and out at 3pm - 75 seeds implanted - in theatre for around 40 minutes (most of which I slept through as anaesthetist gave me a good shot of sedative!)

overall a straight forward and painless procedure

Home with bag of tablets- delighted to be through it - onwards and upwards !!

Good luck Barneyboy and welcome to the Brachy club.Had my Brachytherpy just over five years ago, operation was good in and out in two days and have had very few side affects so far. PSA down to 0.05 and signed off by Specialist 2021.

75 seeds, that's 3 more than me!  Glad it's all going well and long may it continue. Expect a few issues as time marches on, they will ease as time goes by. I had a few issues, my GP was quite helpful with pills and potions to make life a bit easier.

Also look up Johsan - her husband had brachytherapy many years ago and until recently, she posted regular updates on his experience
