I had my prostratectomy in March . I have been using a pump and taking 5mg tadalafil daily since mid April but am still unable to gain an erection . Is this normal after this time ? Can anything else assist with this ? Am I similitude be impatient and still require time ?

Did the surgeon tell you that nerves had definitely been spared by the surgery? You won't get any erections (other than with a pump) without nerves.

Best wishes,

Chris

Are you under the care of an ED nurse or andrology clinic? Who is managing your ED treatment? Can you get good engorgement with the pump and rings- and if so, have you been able to achieve penetrative sex?

By now, I would have expected you to have tried Viagra and, if that didn't work, to start working through alternatives such as levitra, creams and injections.

Have you tried taking 4 cialis tablets at once yet?

As above if you didn’t have nerve sparing surgery then the Cialis and Viagra will not work. But still early days. My best return to function was at 1 1/2 to 2 years with pump use and daily Cialis. Invicorp injections totally did the trick but don’t mix with other meds for a few days. Perseverance and a desire is key. I still use my pump 6 yrs on and am defying many odds in the bedroom. Good luck

Dear Chris,

I wasn't aware that there was even such a question to ask the surgeon.

By the way, I have no problem getting an erection. The problem I am facing is I can't hold the erection. It just goes to sleep half way.

It could be due to the many medications I am on. I am on daily sleeping tablet , anti depressants tabs, migraines tabs, anti enlargement prostate tabs besides few more mostly pains killers.

I am trying to manage my medication intake and being in consultation with a Giatrecian.

Regards

Terence

If you're managing to get an erection, the nerves are definitely intact - that's good news!

Cheers,

Chris

Terence hasn't had RP - just a biopsy.

Yes! If you haven't been referred to an ED nurse, ask your GP .... is there an ED clinic in your area and why hasn't he referred you? You can't manage this on your own.

If you are not engorging with the pump, your technique probably needs some work. You may also have some atrophy (permanent shrinkage) so you need to see someone who knows about ED.

Ask to go to a pump clinic (an offshoot of the ED clinic, but probably much faster to get an appointment). They will show you how to use it properly.

Many pump clinics didn't happen during COVID and men were just given them without proper instruction. They have been running more recently though.
