Hi everyone, just joined.

my brother (58) was diagnosed with advance prostate cancer last year so I decided to get checked. Today I get results of my biopsy.  I was given 4 Gleason scores for the areas of my prostate based on 3 samples for each area

1. 7 (3+4) 3/3 core samples

2. 7 (3+4) 3/3 core samples

3. 6 (3+3) 1/3 core samples

4. Benign

I have been offered radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy. I asked about active surveillance but was told the hospital wouldn’t offer that because 3 out of 3 of the samples scored 7 in 2 cases. Does that seem reasonable.

Yes - if all your samples had come back as 3+3 or most had been benign with perhaps just one or two positive cores at 3+4 you might have been a candidate for AS but it seems you have a fair bit of cancer going on. The medics can also see from your 7 positive cores how close to the edge the cancer is (or isn't) so if they say it needs to be dealt with using radical treatment, I think you have to just bite the bullet.
