Not quite an erection … but oh so painful

Hi. I’m 3 months post RARP, and, without prompting, have started getting the occasional partial erection. As positive as that sounds with partial nerve sparing, it creates a pretty uncomfortable ache in the lower shaft and perineum and takes quite some time to subside as well as impeding any bladder voiding i might want.

given that my surgeon is suggesting i consider viagra or other approach to building up my erections, what have others had to deal with in this area?

Hi,

Sounds like the nerves are relearning their connections and discovering what still works. Generally good news I think. Have you tried using a pump to induce a full erection at all? That should give you some control of the inflation process. If you are getting spontaneous erections then viagra will likely work.

For me viagra didnt have any effect other than feeling like I had a head cold. I tried Alprostadil injections which worked ok a few times but then started to result in extremely painful rock-hard erections that lasted about 90 minutes. Too painful to touch. Felt like it was in danger of bursting. Can laugh about it now.

Chevy try to get invicorp prescribed.  Many of us find these injections do not give painful injections.
