Radiotherapy or Hormone Therapy

Hi, I'm new here.  I had a radical prostatectomy a year ago.  My PSA has gone up to 0.13.  I've had a PSMA scan and that has shown possible prostate bed recurrence.  I was started on Bicalutamide at end of May 2022.  Following my operation my continence has not recovered and I am using about four pads a day.

My specialist has given me an option of salvage radiotherapy or hormone therapy.

I have a few questions:

1) Has anyone been in this situation?

2) I will be speaking to the hospital on Wednesday of this week.  Could somebody please suggest what questions I should ask?

Worth clarifying with the onco as I think you may have misunderstood. The choice isn't usually radiotherapy or hormone therapy .... it is radiotherapy with HT or radiotherapy without HT.

HT cannot get rid of prostate cancer; only the RT can do that. The HT can make it work more efficiently, giving you a better chance of achieving a full remission.

Just to be absolutely certain, was "GT" a typing error?  Did you mean 'The HT can make it work more efficiently ...'?

Eagle, around 30 percent of surgery patients are in the same position as you are in and I was in. You are in the fortunate position to have had a PSMA scan and know at least there is something in the bed to be treated.

Hope all goes well with your future treatment.

Thanks Chris
