No bio today - blood pressure to high

Went for Biopsy today but they could not carry it out.

I thought I'd post as it may help others going for a Biopsy – I’m obviously very stressed at the moment and got myself into a bit of state and my blood pressure went into Hypertensive Crisis mode at 192/110 - don't understand blood pressure but they did not like the 110. This was to do with the pressure in the gland, it would not be safe and may bleed out at during the biopsy at that pressure. They tried four times – lowest was 102.

My blood pressure is normally OK high 70’s low 80’s – but the stress of all this I guess has taken its toll – so back to the doctors tomorrow for blood pressure control and back for another go in two weeks.

So - if you have high or slightly high blood pressure and you are not on medication it may well be advisable if you are stressed - apparently it does happen….

I asked if waiting two more weeks was going to affect my outcome - I was told (no) the lesion is inside the prostrate (right lobe) and is 8mm in size at the widest point – whatever that means – anyone? I can't find much info.....

So round two in a couple of weeks – they said results two weeks after that so hopefully end of July I should know what’s up and where I am with this -

The team at the hospital today were great, but were upset (not with me) that this delay will make them miss their cancer pathway target attached to my hospital number in that department … need to look that….

By the way this is East Surrey Hospital

Hi Gary, 192/110 is very high, it must have been a panic attack of some sort.   The lower measure is the one that keeps the stress on the system and high pressure can increase bleeding.    8mm isn't that big, mine was 13mm and I read that wasn't big, although it's not small either.  All the best, Peter

Hi. So so similar to me. Went in a few weeks ago to have it done again under local, as I had it done three years ago. As I knew it wasn’t nice I was scared and blood pressure was 199/113. I’m 52 and healthy as such. They got scared and said they couldn’t do it and would re hook for under general when I shouldn’t worry as much. I spoke to my doctor and went on blood pressure tablets as it was high all week 170/100. And now it’s 120/80 with tablets so I’m happy.

had the biopsy last Friday under general and awaiting results. Much easier. Out of interest as I was being checked before biopsy  my blood pressure was 150/90 whilst I was in waiting room, but not too bad as I was still scared!
