Hello

I am 12 months in ish I am 51 and was diagnosed last year with stage 3 that surgery would not work for

So I have had HT since June last year and chemo then radio that finished in May

HT for another year they think

now I am feeling better in my health from no treatment and getting fitter again I am  focussing on life ahead, I am pLeased to be able to get errections especially towards the end of the month period between injections and the libido is getting better at the moment - not sure if this will just be at the end of the period before next injection let’s see

the little viagra pills help

BUT I am not sure if I should be using a pump to keep all working or not? Or is this just for surgery, am going to speak to my GP but wanted to reach out on here also,

thx peeps 😎

I take the view that its not going to hurt. I can't see a downside, only upsides so I'd get using that pump. Ordinarily pumps are prescribed post surgery because, at least for a while, there are not going to be any spontaneous erections. If you are on HT then you may experience the same lack of spontaneous erections that are necessary for long-term penile function.

If you can get erections blood is getting to the penis which will keep it healthy, but prior to HT you were probably getting several erections per night and a few in the day. So you may not be getting as much blood to the penis as you should.

I didn't know any of this four years ago when I started on HT. I have ED now put a pill solves the problem. I haven't lost much length or girth.

Using a pump won't do any harm and may be beneficial so you may as well use one.

You should be aiming for an erection no less often than every other day, for at least 10 mins. About 20% of men on hormone therapy can still get erections. If you can, and manage it this often, then you probably don't need a pump, but it will do no harm. I found that after a year on HT, my libido dropped enough that I couldn't be bothered to do it often enough any more, and I was given a pump at that point. The pump guy did say to me, since I could get erections, don't swap the PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, etc) for a pump, but do get a pump if I can have both, which my GP was OK with.
