User

I am newly diagnosed advanced prostate cancer; due to start hormone therapy.

I cannot cope with this without having a couple of beers in the evening to calm me down.

can I drink a few beers when I start this hormone therapy?

I am not an alcoholic but need to calm myself to be even able to eat anything.

I think there is no interaction between hormone therapy and alcohol. So feel free to have a drink.

As Dave has said, if a couple of beers helps then do it!! Being diagnosed with cancer can be terrifying, no-one is going to begrudge you an ale or two. I have been known to put a few away myself.

Hi SCM, my husband has recently been diagnosed with PC and we understand what you are going through as will everyone else on this forum. I did a lot of research and it became apparent there are so many treatments even if it has spread. I also found that there was evidence that diet could slow it down as well.

This forum has so many people on it that care and can offer advice, I personally find it a great help.

If the beers in the evening help carry on and enjoy.

I know your post is a couple of months old now but for what it's worth - I've been on Zoladex since Jan 2020.  I've drank throughout, not surprising really as I'm a functioning alcoholic.  No ill effects as there's no contraindication.  Drink away!

Sorry I've just seen your post if its any help when I was first diagnosed I had a telephone appointment with the consultant oncologist said I was having a red wine, her response was don't go mad and have a glass of water with the wine and ignore "don't drink" on the medicine boxes

So far it's doing me no harm if I couldn't have a drink I would go mad

Cheers

Hi all

I drink most nights,I feel it numbs the bone pain and helps me sleep,OK I may get up more in the night for the toilet but I'm getting up in the night for the toilet if i don't have a drink anyway,I find if I go out with me mates I can't drink as much as I used too so I do pace myself now in that respect and I need to be in sight of the loo.

Regards phil
