2nd part to bone scan

I had my bone scan today and had the full body scan first and was asked to sit outside.  I was then asked to come back and have a second part to the scan when the machine went around my abdomen.  I'm now worrying that being asked to come back was a sign that they've found something.  Any feedback would be helpful

GSK, I have been asked to wait after the bone scan while they checked the scans. I have also waited on the table for a while and then been moved into a different position. No point trying to second guess the reasons it won't change anything.

Thanks Chris

Hi GSK. In my experience if you are asked back or indeed asked to change positions etc then it’s because there is something of interest or because you have complained of aches in a certain area. But as you well know , no point in second-guessing. It is what it is and worrying changes nothing. I’ve been where you are many times and I know it’s exhausting but you can’t Will away the outcome. Strength to you from me ok 👍

The person who operates the machine is a radiographer - a technician trained to operate it. He or she is not a doctor and cannot interpret the results. If you were asked to come back it’s probably because they looked through the initial images and spotted that you’d moved a bit and the images were blurry so they wanted to re-do them. The scans will be examined by a radiologist who is a doctor specialising in the interpretation of such images. Thry will see if there’s anything to be concerned about on them.

Best wishes,

Chris
