Not changing treatment despite PSA increasing

Hi, looking for some info. My dad was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in January. He was put on Prostrap and Apalutamide. His PSA has now gone back up to nearly 100 but they're not changing the treatment as he is generally feeling well. It seems odd to me to keep him on a drug when it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas why they might be keeping him on it (and what might happen next?). Thanks all

Probably because there aren't many options next - if apalutimide fails, the next step would be chemo (if he is well enough) and then possibly something like radium 223 if he has bone mets although R223 doesn't really treat the cancer, it reduces the side effects of the mets.

At this stage of your dad's csncer, the PSA is not as important as how he feels / his mobility / his quality of life
