Advanced scans and treatments

Came upon this very long illustrated and detailed talk on advanced scans and associated treatments.  A great deal of information to absorb but I found very interesting as I am sure others will too.

One very prominent member 'Alathays' (Allister), an IT specialist, was so frustrated by the revised format shortcomings of the new forum he started his own. For those of us that knew him, he was quite a character, raised many thousands of pounds for this charity and participated in a number of research projects. Sadly, he passed away quite a time back. I eventually traced his account by working my way through the search facility, because his name was in alphabetical order, many aren't. There are still problems with the way the forum works although a number of fixes have been incorporated over the years. It really does need a radical update and be made easier to navigate. It must be difficult for some would be posters to even initiate a subject

Barry, finally found some time to watch the presentation. Thanks for posting the link.

Thanks Chris

Thank you for your reply Chris. I was beginning to wonder if it had been of interest to anybody!

Barry it's the engine behind this forum that is the issue. You can 'silently' thank people but you don't get the reactions or emoticons like you do on other forums. So many people will have watched but did not need to reply with actual words.

When I joined here in Feb 22 I was very surprised firstly how bespoke the software behind the forum seemed to be and second how out dated it all was. I think being able to add reactions even if it was only a thumbs up would at least show you as a poster that people are reading.

The site was redesigned in about 2015 I think and members were included in focus groups, etc. It was the choice of the members to remove the thumbs up sign (which we did have originally) as it was causing upset. We were asked whether we wanted the ability to upload photos and the member response was a resounding no! The 'read' counter was lost during the upgrade.

A couple of the active members at the time were IT specialists who said the forum needed to be rebuilt from scratch because there were fundamental flaws (like the search function) but PCUK said they couldn't do that; quite rightly, PCUK money is focused on research and finding a cure.

You can still get into the old forum and can probably find the thread about the 'new' one ... if you can work out the search function 🤣🥴

Barry, what was interesting was the future possibilities of using current last resort treatments as first line treatments before surgery etc.

Thanks Chris

Quite right, I don't want my monthly contribution to PCa UK diverted from the more important stuff. Working as an IT specialist I fully appreciate the costs involved in running and buying the licenses for these applications. I guess other medical forums are just built on the defaults that the off the shelf packages provide hence none silent acknowledgements.
