Are you over the age of 50 years and have/have had prostate cancer but not received androgen deprivation therapy as a treatment? Our researchers need your help!

The research:  Dr Hannah Rush, a Clinical Research Fellow at University College London is exploring how men feel about emerging types of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).  The study involves presenting men with information about injection (the current most common form of ADT), patch and tablet versions of ADT, including key similarities and differences, and asking men if they were faced with a hypothetical decision between treatments, which they would choose and why. The study aims to establish if men are likely to consider choosing these new types of ADT, and which factors influence this choice.

What they want from you: To participate in a small group discussion online via Microsoft Teams which will take approximately 90 minutes to share your view about which treatment you would choose. The discussion groups are scheduled on

Why it’s important: Trials have recently demonstrated both patch and tablet versions of ADT lower testosterone equally as well as injection forms of ADT.  However, implementation of new treatments following positive trial results can take time.  By exploring men’s views on these types of ADT, they hope to establish whether there is a demand for access to these treatments.  Depending on the results of the study this may lead to further work, advocating access to new ADT options.
