Hello from me

Hi everyone. I'm Paul and my brother was diagnosed with PC in April 2022. I had various tests with PSA of 22.2 and was diagnosed with PC in October 2022.

I had radical robot prostatectomy on 8 December and am recovering well.

Next appointment is 1 February and fingers crossed for the right PSA result

Hi Paul,

Good to hear you are recovering well from your RP.  My husband had his op Dec 2021 and is feeling really well 12 months on. He's done well with continence but still suffers ED but he's not having any medication to support that. Life has been good and feels quite normal again for us.  It's always a real worry waiting for PSA results and I'm not sure that will ever change to be honest.

Wishing you all the very best with your ongoing recovery and all your post op results.

Just wondering if your husband not getting any medication for ED is out of choice?

Hi Gee Baba,

Yes it is out of choice.  He started to have some rapid heartbeat episodes after his PCa diagnosis so I think we just didn't want to take any chances of making it worse with sildenafil. He was prescribed Caverject injections too from his private consultant but his NHS consultant won't send him to ED nurse (to show him how to use) until he has tried tablets.  Also the consultant did say that the injections would have the same impact on his heart as the tablets so we've just put it all on hold for now. He does have a vacuum pump which he was using but not as much anymore.

Hope you are keeping well.

Elaine

However, what I have found pleasing was the use of a strap-on, we have used it twice and found it a very pleasurable experience.

Did you have nerves spared? My husband had 50%.

I think it's trial and error with it all and find out what works for you both. Still plenty of time to see improvement if you're only 7 months post op but glad you have found alternatives in the meantime.

I was told I had bi-lateral sparring. It is a waiting game I guess.
