Active Surveillance advice

I was diagnosed last June but after discussion  with Oncology Team agreed to go on Active Surveillance with 3 monthly PSA Tests. They have concerns that Hormone and Radiotherapy may impact on other  health conditions ( heart ) . My original PSA was 12 -latest score is 17 and I have appointment to discuss in 10 days. Anyone with similar experience at what point will treatment  be needed despite downside on other issues. They did say last year  that my situation was a tricky one for them to decide best way forward. I am 70.

Hi Geoff, I am not best able to answer your question but if you could fill in you diagnosis result eg biopsy  etc. in the bio it will assist others in answering your question.

Geoff. A brief rundown on the diagnosis would be helpful i.e. Gleeson score, MRI results. It would help us comment on the options open to you.

Hello Geoff, my PSA was rising whilst on W&W, when it went over 10 my urologist decided it was time for treatment. I was older than you at diagnosis and also have heart issues. I had LDR Brachytherapy which has, so far, been very succesful. Your case is probably different. You could ask your specialist to refer you for a second opinion ( your right on the NHS). John
