Erections post RP surgery

Any good news stories about the return of erections following RP surgery. How long did it take? What worked/didn’t work?

After RP erections returned to normal after about 6 - 7 months. I have no problems now

John had very little recovery at all and ended up using injections by month 12. However, between years 2 - 3, he regained natural erections and, although he still uses tablets or injections to get an erection, that is more to do with the psychological impact of having the operation rather than any mechanical damage

You will find men on here who recover immediately others can take years.

6 months post op, full nerve sparring. No spontaneous erections yet. Some signs of recovery though. I use a pump daily for training. Touch I think is one of the best medicines, the clinical nurses stressed the latter on a number of occasions.

Took 2 years for me to start down the road to "normal". 8 years on this year and I suspect it's as good as it's going to get. While the erection is not perfect the sex IS!

I have been very lucky and 6 weeks post NSRP I was 90% back.

Hi JohnQ,

It's not really a good news story from me, so maybe not what you were looking for?

I had my surgery 9 months ago.  "Most" of the nerves were said to have been 'spared', but I've not felt even a stirring yet.  I've been using the vacuum pump very regularly for the last 5 months; plus Cialis (5mg.) daily and once-weekly Alprostadil injections (NHS allowance).

Good luck in whatever treatment you decide to opt for.

Jedsee

thanks for your reply - I’m hoping to start low dose Cialis this week and after about a month start using the pump & maybe injections later - so similar pathway to yourself. Good luck

Thank you for your replies - you are a wealth of knowledge so thanks for sharing. I agree with you about the psychological impact of PC & the effect on ED. I think some men more affected by others which might partly explain the variation in recovery.
