Enlarged prostrate removal

A friend of a friend  as been told he as an enlarged prostrate , he’s fitted with a catheter, he’s under the impression that he might have to have it out ? Has anyone had prostrate removed just because it’s enlarged ?? I do know a guy who had it shaved ??? Not removed .

A TURP or HoLEP procedure is normally used to widen the urethra through an enlarged prostate. It's a much simpler procedure with less risk of side effects than a prostatectomy. The bits they shave off are taken as biopsy samples to check for prostate cancer.
