Why has chemo triggered a rise in PSA?

Coming up for 5 years post-diagnosis now.  Been on prostap for a most of that time, which brought it under control.  I completed chemo - 6x docetaxel - at the end of October.  At one point just after the chemo cycles my PSA was down to 0.1, which was great.  Now it's gone up to 8.7, and was 4.4 just six weeks ago.

How can chemo make it worse?

Stew, no experience of chemo ,but local radiation treatment to a single pelvic lymph node tumor has caused my PSA to rise from 1.8 to 4.6 in six months. My PSA is rising fast now than when I had a cancerous prostate.

When I asked the oncologist for an explanation he said he couldn't give one ,"it sometimes happens."

Hope you find an answer to your question.

Thanks Chris
