Post radiotherapy/hormone therapy burning pain when weeing

I just wonder if anyone else can relate to this.

I had HDR brachytherapy plus external beam radiotherapy last May followed by 8 months of Prostap with the last injection about 4 months ago.

All is going well as far as I know so far. 

About 2 months ago I noticed a burning pain when weeing. It is mild to moderate and I could live with it if necessary. 

I have just had it confirmed that it is not an infection as far as they can tell. 

My gut feeling is that it is just a side effect of the radiation. I have my next appointment with the urologist on 2nd June and will discuss it then but in the meantime I wondered if anyone else has experienced this.

Hi LJ,

I’m in the middle of RT at the moment and so far have not experienced this, but a friend of mine had this during and after treatment and was told it was Radiation Cystitis, quite common it would seem. He was told to drink plenty of water, and sometime cranberry juice helps. Paracetamol to help with any pain.
