Hi,
I just thought I’d update this thread for others seeking information as I’ve read nearly every post on this site whilst waiting for my dad’s results to come through.
My dad got the results from his bone scan and biopsy today.
He does have prostate cancer and it has spread to his pelvic bone. The bone scan confirmed a very small spot that it has spread to on his pelvis.
The biopsy of 12 needles showed that 9 out of 12 were positive for cancer. 1 or 2 of these were grade 8 but the rest were grade 6. He has been given a Gleason score of 8 overall.
His consultant has referred him for another scan (not sure if this is a PET or PSMA) to double check that there are no other bone mets but the consultant is hopeful that it hasn’t spread any further.
My dad has already started tablet medication today with injections and radiotherapy (RT is in 6 months) booked in as well.
My dad is 67 and the consultant has said that as long as the scan he’s been booked in for only shows this 1 pelvic bone met, chances are he will die of something else before prostate cancer.
I so hope that this is true as if we can keep my dad for 10+ years then I will be forever grateful.
