Anyone had a selvage prostatectomy?

Hi I'm 53 year old man diagnosed and treated with radiotherapy for prostate cancer 2021. This year diagnosed the treatment has not been successful and my only option is to have a salvage prostatectomy. I am worried about the side effects and life after the opp. I would like to hear of others experiences of having this radical surgery.

Hi,

The link below is to a conversation about salvage prostatectomy, it's from 2018.   You might also click on the profiles of the people who said they had or will have it to see how they got on.

You really need a surgeon which specialises in salvage prostatectomy, because it's highly specialised and rare.

In that other thread, the one who was at Guildford has since retired from the NHS (but still works privately). The one mentioned at UCLH is now at Guys and St.Thomas's. There may be others, but the one at Guys and St.Thomas's is the only one I know of on the NHS, and I've seen other London hospitals refer to there for salvage prostatectomies. If that's within reach for you, I would ask for a referral to there.
