Docetaxel with filgrastim

My husband has recently been diagnosed with PC with pelvis bone metastasis. He is 59 with a PSA of 2 which unfortunately, because of this, took a long time to be diagnosed

He started his chemo on 31/8/2023 6 days ago with Filgrastim injections on day 3.
He has had horrendous headaches, indigestion and almost intolerable back pain. I’ve never seen him in so much pain.
Has anyone else experienced this ?

please forgive me I am very new to this and feel completely useless !

Hi Lisa, sorry you are here. I can't help, I'm posting mainly to get your post back to the top. I do know that when chemotherapy is mentioned on this forum most people tolerate it well. Hopefully someone with more experience will reply soon.

Hello Lisa, sorry to hear this.

He should have been given a chemo contact or a CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) he can contact, which I suggest you do.

Another option is to call NHS 111.

Thank you so much Dave for your message.
My husband is still struggling but has been prescribed some stronger painkillers. Ended up in A&E which was a disaster and a long story.
I pray this gets easier for him. x

Thank you Andy for you message.
he has a hospital hotline he can ring.
they advised we go to our nearest A&E.

It ended up being a nightmare. Long story but he came home with some stronger painkillers.

thank you x

Hi Lisa sorry to hear about your husbands issues. When I had docetaxel I was given a booklet that had a record of dates, doses and contact for Specialist Cancer Nurse.

More importantly I had a 24 hour emergency number to ring in the event of any problems which I found very reassuring.

Not sure if this happens anymore.
