Need to wee

I’m some 9 months post op. My incontinence has improved so I’m now 1 pad per day and just migrated to Tena level 2 (yippee!). However I often get the urge to wee especially at night and when I only have a miserable dribble of not a lot and I think what was that all about! I’ve tried to resist the urge but end up not being able to sleep. Is this normal and will it improve? Thanks

Morning mate.

I think it's quite normal. I had RARP almost a year ago. I rarely have to pad up anymore. I try to not to drink much after 6pm but still get up once a night for a pee.

Apparently this is called nocturia. As we get older it is common to have to get up once or twice a night for a pee. Its not a problem confined to prostate cancer suffers.

For a while I put a jug on the bedside table. It helped psychologically to know I had something there in case I got caught short. This made me feel more relaxed and aided better sleep.
