Hi husband had a mri and bone scan about 3 weeks ago and has now had a letter in for a urologist appointment can someone tell us what this could mean please

That's what usually happens after you've had a diagnostic procedure.

You really can't tell anything much yet. The appointment may even have been sent out before the scan results have come back to urology, but they know they will have them by then, knowing how quickly their backlog is being processed.

There is no other information, histology or mention of hubby having had a biopsy. If the latter has been done, I would think that the various tests along with this would have been discussed at a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting and he would be told what treatment options were open at his appointment. It could be his situation is such that a Biopsy was not considered necessary and again what they could do by way of treatment. In view of the expensive time of consultants, it is unlikely that they will just call him in to tell him nothing needs to be done at all, although one of his options could be Active Surveillance. One can't really speculate especially with the dearth of information and unfortunately there is generally a delay in getting results so it's a matter of waiting. .

As we know so little about his situation so far, it is difficult to give advice. The thread below has questions to ask when you have got cancer. It may be worth printing it out, so if the medic starts off with "you have cancer" you have some relevant questions. Hopefully he will start of with "you do not have cancer" and this advice won't be needed.

mummyf, has he had a biopsy? If not, the urology appointment may be for a biopsy which would be what normally comes after MRI.

The biopsy will shed more light on his condition. The bone scan being clear is excellent news.

Good luck and keep us updated.
