Hi

i am just over a week away from my surgery. I am hoping to have nerve saving surgery, but am aware even with this there will be a loss of sexual activity.

can anyone give advice on best ways to get “back on the horse as quickly as possible”

1. don't expect any action for the first few months - you won't feel like it and you need to give your internal surgery time to heal.

2. even with nerve sparing, natural erections are unlikely for about a year - those nerves will have taken a beating if they remain

3. if you still have nerves then various tablets may help - you just need to work out the best ones and doses

4. if you lose the nerves then you can inject yourself - not as scary as it sounds and in most cases it works very well

5. you can try a Vacuum Erection Device if you can handle the use of cock rings to maintain the erection

6. how is your sex life - do you have lots of fun and love experimenting - if so then you are in luck as there are many ways to enjoy yourselves even with a floppy willy. My wife actually enjoys oral on mine on the days I don't inject - it's a new and novel experience.

1. Don't compare her to a horse.😁 Unless you're 'in the saddle' and want to be thrown about like a rodeo rider. 🤠

Joking apart mate, recovery varies so much it's impossible to say. Some recover naturally, some use pills, some use pumps, some use injections, some prefer to call it a day.

Good luck with the op.

Try everything and anything on offer, never give up and have lots of fun trying to find a solution. I was supposedly non nerve sparing. I was fortunate,my post surgery orgasms are out of this world.

Thanks Chris

Post surgery you may be given low dose (5mg) Tadalafil. The purpose of the low dose is not to promote erections but to assist with the healing process of the cavernous nerves. It's a bit of a post code lottery. You may get it automatically or you may have to push for it or get on a private prescription.

Swarbrigg

After prostatectomy or any other treatment it is possible to have sex  and/or orgasm. There is no shortage of examples of men here and other forums who have continued to have fulfilling intimate life. You have to reframe your expectations with imagination, good communication, tell each other what you would like and desire to pleasure each other. You don't need an erection to have orgasms, just masturbate, solo or mutually with your wife/partner. All you need is love!

I has RP nearly 4 years ago. Don't put yourself under any pressure. First priority is recovery- so gentle walking then build from there. Eat healthily. I used a low dose of Tadalafil and Cialis for events from about week 6 and was surprised how quickly things normalised, but had a very understanding partner and we talked and fooled around with out any pressure. Was probably 12 months before things were fully back to normal.Good luck
